Explaining What High Street Fashion Is

There is more and more talk about high street fashion but nobody seems interested in explaining what it actually means. Many fashion magazines and fashion blogs or sites have special sections dedicated to this particular subject but if you take a look you will only see pictures, pictures and more pictures. So what is it?

Having this goal set out for myself I have started to look through a number of magazines and blogs to try to figure out what this really means and I think that I might have got it. You surely have seen men and women, boys and girls with a strong personal style walking by you in the street. They all seem to wear designer clothes or outfits that they have created themselves but that are rather different from the normal outfits.

Their fashion choices are so unique and out of the ordinary that they actually deserve at least a bit of our admiration. The pictures that we see in the special sections are actually pictures of these people who have a way of impressing us through their outfits.

In today's world people seem to be dressing more and more the same way but these fashion worriers dare to be different. These are the ones that are not afraid to make some strange combinations between vintage fashion and designer clothes or between some colors that would make your eyes hurt. They want to be unique in every way starting from the hair and make-up and ending with their clothes.

If we had more people dressing like this probably we wouldn't have the same look as everyone else all the time. If you feel that you don't know exactly what you should wear then you can just look for some inspiration by looking at High Street Fashion pictures. Choosing to dress in the clothes that you like and feel comfortable in is the best thing that you can do. So, next time you go shopping try to choose something different that you like

Women's Winter Wardrobe Essentials

The nights are growing cold and the days are becoming shorter; it's time to throw away the summer outfits and invest in a few winter necessities. If you're wondering what kind of fashion essentials you need to keep warm and cozy then we've named a few to put on your Christmas list:

1. The Scarf: Every woman needs a scarf or two to go with their outfit. These are perfect for keeping warm by tucking them into your coat - chunky and colourful scarves are a great addition to any winter outfit.

2. High Boots: High boots or calf boots go well with skinny jeans or any other trousers, keeping them dry in the wet know if you tuck in your jeans. Suede boots and fur boots look great for winter and have the added advantage of keeping your extra warm and dry in the unpredictable winter storms.

3. The Skinny Jeans: Skinny jeans are particular good choices when you're wearing high boots as they can be easily tucked in without bunching up. Avoid thin material, such as legging-type jeans, as the cold weather will go right through them.

4. The Pea Coat: A pea coat, or any length of trench-coat style jacket, is an excellent winter essential. They can keep you warm up to your knees and come in a variety of bright bold colours - there's no need for boring black this winter!

5. A Big Bag: It certainly won't keep you warm, but it can keep you well equipped for winter survival. Unlike smaller handbags your big winter bag can keep your umbrella, a rolled up raincoat or essential beauty items should you need a touch up after walking to work in an unexpected rainstorm. They can fit in essential extras you summer handbag can't.

No matter the season you should always accessorise your outfits; animal-print, fur coats and turtleneck woolly jumpers are also must-have winter gear. You shouldn't compromise and on style whatever the season

Men's Fashion And The Media

Typically, men would profess themselves non-pulsed by the world of fashion, however, media coverage implies otherwise. The number of male lifestyle magazines is growing exponentially, well established newspapers devote impressive column inches to the subject and, perhaps most significantly for the male demographic, there are now a large number of websites and blogs discussing the content of the metrosexual's wardrobe.

The existence of the word 'metrosexual' in common parlance pays tribute to the sway the media has exerted on male fashion; it has even been translated into Japanese, 'meterosekusyalu,' for the trendy Asian market. The media initially played a formative role in normalising the trait of being a fashion orientated man and has, subsequently, adopted the task of relating the latest fads and designs to this demographic.

The fact that male fashion journalism has now become a respected subject area, further emphasises this role. It is a subject that is now taken so seriously that a recent edition of GQ Magazine interviewed the Government Minister for Culture, Commerce and the Creative Industries, Ed Vaizey, for his opinion on male dress. With eminent reporters such as Alex Petridis of the Guardian addressing the subject, the world of men's fashion has been transformed into common cultural currency by the media.

Moreover, the media treatment of this subject is increasingly emulating the way in which women's fashion is discussed. For some time, weekly and monthly female-targeted magazines have scrutinised, criticised and applauded the attire of well-known women, a journalistic style that is now being directed at male celebrities. The result has been a plethora of copycat award ceremonies, now directed at men, for fashion triumphs and fashion disasters. These events are sponsored by media institutions such as Esquire and GQ, and have helped foster the inference among men that their attire is central to their very character. Recent stars recognised for their fashion savvy are Dr Who, Matt Smith and Mad Men's John Hamm. For the more advanced in years, the models to emulate are Patrick Dempsey, Hugh Jackman and Viggo Mortensen.

The technological changes in how we access media have also had a massive impact on male fashion. Since men are notoriously shy of revealing their interest in clothes, the web has become the tool du jour for them to find out what is hot, and what is not. It is easy to Google the latest looks from the privacy of your own home, or to check whether a skinny tie is hip or so last season. With the broadsheets expending column inches on the attire of serious public figures such as Cameron, David Milliband and President Obama, then all men with aspirations for power, know that to overlook the importance of their personal appearance would be a grave mistake.

The Famous Fashionistas

The fashionistas live and die by what they wear, constantly searching for the freshest style, while the average person merely dresses to look good. Once in the public eye they are photographed wherever they are as the outfits they wear make them stand out from the crowd as the true style icons they are. Their image might not always work but when the next day begins they will be setting the trend all over again knowing that the rest of the world will soon follow suit.

Coco Chanel is one of the first names to spring to mind when thinking of world famous fashion icons. As testament to the influence she had in the industry Time Magazine named her in their Most Important People of the Century List - the only person from the world of fashion to make it! Styles which she perfected over half a century ago are still being copied today which shows how truly ahead of her time she was.

Being a fashion icon then a designer has definitely worked for Kate Moss. She has a habit of being seen in all the right places in all the right garments which are perfectly accessible for the average person to afford. Unsurprisingly there were thousands queueing when Kate's Topshop range was first unveiled, and she has now designed for them over the past three years.

Having already perfected the boho-chic look of skinny jeans, flowing tops and long hair, Sienna Miller has now switched styles leaving all those emulating her image somewhere in the distance. As a true fashionista her look is scrutinised across the globe (along with her private life!) and so the mod style she is now going for is also being used by some of the world's top designers.

As one of the most watched couples in the world the Beckhams exude style and as testament to this they are both endorsed by some of the most prestigious names in fashion. Off the football pitch David is famed for being one of the ultimate metrosexuals who is unashamed of grooming but can also be seen as a man's man. Victoria is always seen in clothes at the height of fashion and she never tries to take away from any of the amazing dresses she wears by adding accessories to her outfits.

Women's Fashion - Color Coordination

It's surprising how often people shy away from using color when it comes to the clothes they wear. Lots of us stick to neutral blacks, grays and navy blues to avoid making a fashion mistake, however, it isn't that difficult to get color right, and we can create dramatic new looks for ourselves if we are prepared to step out of our comfort zones and start to have some fun with color.

If you want to give your wardrobe a makeover or fancy seeing what wearing color can do for you the first thing you will need to understand is how colors work. Think back to art class and the color wheel and how certain colors blend and contrast with other colors. You can easily research color wheels on the Internet to find out more about the relationships between the various colors and work out how to mix and match for maximum effect.

Color experts seem to agree that most colors fall into one of two categories. There are cool tones that have bluish undertones and warm tones that are yellow based. The secret to getting the right color to suit you is to work out if you suit warm shades or cool tones the best. This will depend on your skin tone and the color of your hair.

Once you understand the thinking behind warm and cool colors you can extend it to mixing and matching the clothes in your wardrobe. The general rule of thumb is that warm colors go with warm colors and cool colors go with cool. However, this is not set in stone, and you can have fun experimenting and finding out what works and what doesn't.

One rule of thumb that was once in fashion is now something of a no-no. It used to be thought that color matching all your accessories i.e. shoes, belt, bag, earrings, etc., was a good way to color coordinate. However, this is now considered to be old fashioned. This doesn't mean to say that you should throw too much color together, however, if in doubt follow the Parisian women's color code and have no more than 3 colors in any one outfit. This will help you to stay looking chic; and remember an outfit should have only one dominant color.

For those who prefer to stick to their favorite neutral shades or those who are still not convinced you can add splashes of color to any outfit via accessories such as shoes, coats or scarves. This is a safer way to have fun with color and brighten up your usual look.

Movies About Fashion

The Devil Wears Prada, 2006. The movie is regarded as a vast improvement over the novel of the same name. The clothes, however, are not viewed as being an inspiring example of fashion. Perhaps, it's the revealing insights into the fashion industry which make this compelling viewing to fashion fans. This could be best summed up by Meryl Streep's quote from the movie, "you think you're immune from fashion but that horrible sweater you're wearing is blue because two years ago designers decided blue was the trend".

Zoolander, 2001. Possibly one of the most ridiculous movies of all time, similar in the way The Devil Ways Prada pulled the same stunt, it opens the viewers eyes to home truths about fashion. You may consider this an advanced guide into the inner workings of the fashion industry. And for some reason, they're making a sequel.

Coco Avant Chanel (Coco Before Chanel) Anne Fontaine, 2009. Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel is undoubtedly the most influential woman to grace the fashion world, and she is played superbly here by Audrey Tatou. From her early years, leaving an orphanage with her sister through her failed shot at singing stardom to the man she met, married and ultimately financed her climb to the top of the fashion tree, we see what a fantastic rise she made to becoming the ultimate fashion icon.

Yves Saint Laurent: His Life and Times and Yves Saint Laurent, 5 Avenue Marceau 75116 Paris David Teboul, 2002. The life of Yves Saint Lauren is celebrated in this documentary. Featuring interviews with Lauren as well as a host of his close fiends, it draws a revealing picture of the main and his career. From his early life in Algeria to becoming head designer at Christian Dior to going on to begin his enormously successfully fashion company, we see the rise to fame of one of the all-time great designers in a way we had never seen before.

Who Are You, Polly Magoo? By William Klein, 1966। Famed 60s American Vogue photographer, William Klein, made his first full-length film a satirical documentary based on the two worlds he was immersed in, high fashion and the media. Ironically, it is about a documentary being made about supermodel, Polly Magoo who is being romanced by a prince wanting to take her away to his kingdom. Also, in the movie is a character based on Diana Vreeland who was the editor-in-chief for American Vogue.

Importance Of Preventive Medicine And Healthcare

Preventive medicine is the care and measures taken to prevent illness. Professional preventive care consists of examinations and screening tests tailored to a patient's age, health, and family history. In addition to avoiding the initial development of diseases, preventive medicine also consists of preventing the worsening of diseases that have already developed.

There are many techniques that doctors treat their patients with Preventive Medicine. Immunization is really a widespread but critical example of preventive medicine provided by doctors. Vaccines are regularly utilized to guard against illness, specially influenza. Antibiotics are used to prevent infections when treating wounds and burns.

Good hygiene practices are another vital part of preventive care and health maintenance. Hand washing and bathing are critical to cleanse the body of infectios agents and dead skin cells. It really is also essential to wash food and clean utensils and kitchen surfaces before eating. These measures reduce the likelihood of germs and bacteria entering the body.

Health maintenance is an ongoing method that's essential to preventive care. You'll find a number of aspects of improving health and staying healthy. Physical exercise can enhance overall health and reduce the likelihood of becoming ill. Personal health is also impacted by personal observations of daily living, as well as the clinical treatment plans based on these observations. Professional health care is a critical component of health maintenance. The medical, nursing, and allied health professions offer services for the prevention of illness and preservation of mental and physical health.

The social structure of a person's life also affects their health. Maintaining strong social relationships has been linked to very good health and longevity. Such as volunteer work in one's social activities can have a positive impact on personal health. Tension management is also a component of health maintenance. Relaxation methods, cognitive therapy, and confidence building techniques can decrease negative tension responses within the body.

The importance of preventive medicine cannot be overstated. Quite a few of the leading causes of death in the United States might be avoided with preventive medicine. Preventive attention and health maintenance are an important part of what Doctors of Internal Medicine and Family Practitioners supply their patients. These physicians offer their patients with a better understanding of wellness and disease prevention, which can lead to a longer and healthier life

Diet And Health: How To Get The Best Of Both

Every day there is discussion about the best way to have good health and the best diet to eat. High protein diets were the rage a few years ago, and people were told to eat tons of protein, including fatty bacon and red meats but no carbohydrates at all. While people did lose weight on these diets, the long-term effect on their overall health is just now starting to be seen.

During those high-fat, high-protein diets, people were noting how grumpy they were, how sluggish they felt and how much they felt as if their head was in some kind of a fog. Well, of course they felt that way-the carbohydrates that they were not eating at all are actually needed by the body for a number of reasons:

- The brain only accepts and uses energy derived from carbohydrates to function properly

- Carbs are one of the easiest energy sources on the entire body

- Carbs may influence the production of many of the feel good hormones in the body

Getting a Better Amount of Protein in the Healthy Diet

Fad diets are a bad idea not only for your weight but for your overall health as well. The debate over whether or not yo-yo dieting harms your physical well being is an ongoing one with some doctors saying that losing and gaining weight over and over can lead to problems with your heart, lungs and other organs while other doctors say there is no permanent damage done. Of course, you do not need to have a medical expert tell you the damage that rapid weight loss, especially when it is large amounts, can do to your skin- stretch marks are more common during rapid weight changes because the skin is damaged in the process. For the most part, fad diets do not work, at least not permanently and in many cases, not safely. Sticking to a healthy and well balanced diet is a much better, much safer idea.

For most people, the right amount of calories can be determined by looking at their height, weight and amount of activity, but there are always some exceptions to these rules. Anyone who has serious health concerns such as heart disease, kidney disease, diabetes, or pregnant women should never start a new diet without discussing its safety with their doctor.

Before you can tell how much protein you need in your diet, you will need to figure out how many calories that you need overall. The problem with people who are trying to lose weight is that they will automatically eliminate some of the foods that they actually need and will try to lower their daily caloric intake far too low. Once the human body starts getting more than a few days of really low calories, it will panic and start thinking that it is starving to death and will shut the metabolism down completely. Because you are no longer burning food for energy, you are not going to lose weight, even with the low amount of calories that are going in. For some people, this will become a cue to simply stop the diet completely while for others, it will simply mean that they are not working hard enough, and they will lower the amount of food that they are eating even further. The problem is not the amount of work they are doing. It is not about how much food they are eating at this point, it is purely about the metabolism.

Internal Medicine

Internal Medicine is the medical specialty that deals with prevention, prognosis, and treatment of diseases in adults. Internal Medicine originated in Germany within the late 1800s as the practice of combining the science of the medical laboratory with the care of patients. Doctors of Internal Med are commonly known as internists. They ought to not be confused with interns, who are doctors in residency training following medical school. Internists are generally consulted by other doctors to help them with complex difficulties.

For lots of adults, Internists serve as primary care physicians. Internists normally treat patients in their clinic or office. Doctors of Internal Medicine have focused at least 3 of their seven or more years of medical school and postgraduate training on learning to diagnose and treat illnesses in adult patients. Internists are trained to diagnose and treat all pathologies of a patient's internal organs and systems. Doctors of Internal Med deal with the whole patient. Internists can treat chronic illnesses, in addition to situations where several ailments simultaneously afflict a patient. Internists are trained to solve puzzling diagnostic difficulties, no matter how uncommon or difficult.

Doctors of Internal Medicine can deal with a wide selection of specialties. Internists can treat illnesses involving any organ or system in the body, such as heart ailments, liver illness, respiratory troubles, kidney disease, and digestive problems. Doctors of Internal Medicine may perhaps treat adolescent or geriatric patients. Internists may focus on hospital, sleep, or sports medicine. Doctors of Internal Medicine can treat hormone issues and blood disorders, and they could provide chemotherapy cancer treatment.

They can also treat infectious diseases, including viruses, bacteria, and parasites. Although some doctors could focus on just one of these sub-specialties, you will find several General Internists who treat all of them.

Internists offer their patients with a greater understanding of wellness and disease prevention. Not just do Internists provide care in their office or clinic, they also organize care for their patients in hospitals or nursing homes, when required. Internists care for patients from their teenage years through old age. Doctors of Internal Medicine take pride in providing care for their patients throughout their lives.

The Importance Of Wearing Decent Clothing

One of the strangest social or cultural phenomena since the Second World War is the change in criteria which individuals use to purchase garments. For thousands of years before then, people wanted the best possible clothing that they could get and one of the criteria that they used to judge each other was their dress sense or the quality of their clothes.

This all started to change in the Seventies when it became more significant to not be seen wearing the same article too often, so it became more desirable to have five cheap shirts that would not last long than to have one high quality shirt that would last for years. How did this shift in principles come about?

The most obvious section to blame are the fashion designers (or their imitators) and the advertisers. Individuals without much money to spend on clothes do not like to be seen in the same blue shirt on every other occasion, they would rather have several colours, but maybe these individuals do not realize the difference in the quality.

The quality of one's clothing is vital as most women and about half as many men know. First impressions count and bright and cheerful (but cheap) is not as impressive to those who know the difference as quality.

To those who say that the person should matter more than the clothing, I would say 'Yes, in an ideal world. One day, but it is not the way it works now.' Why do individuals dress up for a date, and especially the first date? Why do individuals dress up for an interview? And why do people dress up to go to court?

It is because clothing matters and first impressions count and deep down, we all know it even though most of us wish that it did not count so much.

First of all, it is important to find a style that suits you. Then you should purchase items of clothing that are decent examples of that style. They will not be cheap, but is a Hell's Angel's leather jacket cheap? Certainly not. Whatever niche you think you fit into or want to fit into, purchase the appropriate clothing to stand out for quality.

I am not saying that people have to dress appropriate to their age group, I am saying that people should dress appropriate to the upper echelons of their niche group. If you would like to become a Hell's Angel, get one of the best leather jackets and if you want to work in an office, buy yourself a good suit. Just because you cannot tell the difference between a cheap one and a decent one does not mean that your peers cannot as well.

You just have so much scope to transform your physical appearance, but you can still create a big impression by wearing quality clothing like a good overcoat, a good suit, a decent cardigan or a good shirt. The people who know the difference will notice, and it will not hurt your prospects.

A Sexy Dress Can Be Very Versatile

Sometimes nothing seems more appropriate than a sexy dress. Perhaps a formal evening is the reason for dressing up, or maybe they just decide on a whim, but many women feel a lot more beautiful and enticing when they wear flattering clothes. There are situations in which more conservative clothing is required, but those times are few and far between.

With a wide range of styles to choose from, women are able to selectively enhance their appearance with astonishing results. Smooth, bare shoulders are classically elegant, while long slits or short hems allow tantalizing flashes of leg. Even the most casual skirt looks significantly more dignified on many women than a pair of blue jeans and a tank top ever could.

A single garment can be accessorized in dozens of ways if the wearer is skilful. This extends the utility of the clothing far beyond its original potential. Even without actually altering the dress itself ladies can add a belt, a wrap, or even a purse to create a personalized ensemble.

A dress may even be expected female attire in certain circumstances. The more formal the agenda for an evening is, the greater the chance that nearly all the women in attendance will be wearing them. The classic combination of a man in a tuxedo with a woman in an evening gown is still very much the style at classy events.

One of the most appropriate places to wear a skirt or dress is to a dance club. In addition to the way they can flatter a lady's body, a dress allows for a much cooler, much less restrictive night of dancing. This can be much more comfortable than slacks.
,
Great for clubbing, cocktail parties, or even just going out for dinner, there are very few rules for wearing a sexy dress. Certainly there are times and places in which more conservative attire is called for, and these should be obvious

About Designer Clothing

Forty years ago, when I was a teenager, I did not know anyone who knew anything about designer clothing, and I am fairly certain that I did not know anyone who wore it. Our family did not have a great deal of money, but I do not think that that was the reason why. We were just not so 'clothes conscious' in those days, I think. We just put on what our parents gave us to wear and went out - to school or wherever. Our clothes were always clean and our jumpers or sweaters were often knitted by my mother, an aunt or a grandmother

Nowadays children are far more aware of what they wear and so are many adults. They stick with a certain designer, because they appreciate that designer's style or theme. Many designers' works are recognizable by their theme or style and this will run through their range of clothing, so that if you like one item of their clothing, you will almost certainly like the other items in that range as well.

Some people buy designer clothes because the name is famous or because their favourite film star or singer was seen dressed in it. This is probably the bad face of designer wear. It makes no sense at all to wear an expensive item of clothing, and let us face it, all designer wear is more costly, just because someone else that you have never met wears it.

The truth is that that famous person was given the garments to wear and might even be being paid to wear it. To wear designer clothes solely for this reason is to allow yourself to be made a fool of.

Designer clothing usually has some identifiable name or logo embroidered onto it. This is an important marketing ploy and is central to the success of a designer. Think of the Lacoste 'crocodile.' That logo is there to publicize that brand. The wearer becomes a walking billboard for that marque.

It also serves to brush up the ego of the wearer, it says: 'Look, I am as stylish as pop stars, because I have the sense to wear this brand.' It also says that you have money, because as we all know, designer clothing is more expensive than non-designer clothing.

Having said that, the majority of designer clothing is of pretty good quality, so it will last a long while if it is laundered properly, but you will have to pay close attention to the type of washing powder that you use and the temperature and the quality of the water. The water should not be too hard.

Occasionally, you can buy designer clothing a little cheaper than in the shops too. Try looking on eBay or Amazon There is frequently designer clothing on the Internet at knock-down prices, but beware of forgeries. Both eBay and Amazon have anti forgery policies which they do implement when forgeries are brought to their attention, but by then the trader is usually long gone and these companies will not compensate you because you have been cheated.

So, inspect the seller's history before you buy, because sellers of forgeries will be banned, so if your seller has only had an account for a few days, be cautious.

Deciphering The Jargon Of Jeans

Most wardrobes nowadays contain at least one pair of jeans - they're the uniform of the masses. Durable, easy to wear and able to be teamed with most of the other garments in your wardrobe, no doubt you've got multiple pairs in different styles.

Still, even the most dogged shopper can get bogged down in the multiple rises, styles and washes out there, when it comes to buying a new pair. So how to get rid of the confusion?

Each manufacturer uses their own language to describe and differentiate their product, which is why there's so much technical language out there for a relatively simple garment. Still, there are some words used in the language of denim that all companies use. Here's a quick glossary for those who want to decipher the language of jeans:

Inseam - this means the length of inside leg measuring from the crotch to the hem. Different jeans styles call for different inseam measurements so for example, the same person looking for turn-up styles (those with upturned cuffs at the ankles) may be looking for a longer length than if they were looking for ankle-length jeans. It is usually measured in inches.

Style - this refers to the silhouette of the jean. Styles range so much, going in and out of fashion, that they are often the biggest source of confusion. Here are a few - classic straight cut (ie jeans that are cut straight on the leg), form-fitting skinny jeans, flares (these kick out from the knee) and twisted fit jeans with an inseam that twists around the leg.

Wash - refers to colour or rather the way that the denim has been dyed. Washes, also called 'rinses,' can also vary considerably, each one giving a different 'look' the denim. The most common washes in men's jeans are 'dark rinse' indicating a solid indigo colour, 'stonewash' which is a light coloured summery denim, 'distressed' ie jeans that have been made to look worn and old, and 'acid wash,' which are jeans that have been splotchily bleached. There are lots of others!

Rise - this is the measurement between the crotch and waistband, which tells you how high on the waist they will sit. Jeans are either low, mid, or high rise, (low being around 8 inches).

Yoke - this is the horizontal seam under the waistband, with different shapes flattering different body proportions. A wide yoke which sits further down from the waistband, is particularly common to men's jeans styles

Finding Great Jeans For Men

Jeans have been a vital part of men's wardrobes for decades. Starting out as cheap workwear, they are still unbeatable for comfort, versatility, style and are as hard-wearing as ever. Finding the perfect pair can take time, but here is a guide to help you get started.

Deciding on a pair of jeans means first deciding what you are going to wear them for. If they are for work, you wan them to be made from hard-wearing good quality thick denim, if you want a pair for evening wear then you might want to consider a designer pair that have been painted and embellished.

If you are looking for the right shape for you, the most flattering shape on most men is the straight cut. Not only does this help to lengthen the leg, but straight cut jeans are also the most versatile as they can be dressed up or dressed down and still look smart.

When it comes to colour and wash, the darker the jeans the more they will go with. Dark washes are also the easiest jeans to dress up for the evening as they blend far better with evening wear than light jean shades do.

Far better for the casual look are the lighter washes. Lighter denim shades look great with trainers and sandals, but not so good with smart footwear. If you want a bleached-up distressed pair of jeans, then lighter shades work better with these styles too.

Jeans now come in more styles and fits than ever before. As many jeans retailers come up with their own names for their particular fits, it can make shopping for the right fit a little confusing! If in doubt, ask the sales assistant for the style that most closely fits the look that you are after.

Whatever store that you go in to, there are 3 styles of jean that you are likely to come across. There is the straight cut, and the casual cut, which is still cut with a straight leg, but fits a little looser. Lastly there is the boot cut, which flares slightly at the bottom of the leg for a neater fit over shoes and boots.

You will only ever know if a pair of jeans is perfect for you once you have tried them on. They should create a good shape, fit comfortably around your stomach and hips, and be comfortable to sit down in as well as walk around in, and should not be to loose around the hips either.

Top Trends In Maternity Clothes

To fashionistas on the ball, it’s extremely important to remain stylish regardless of the situation they are in. Whether wearing hiking clothes, wet-weather gear or camping chic, some people just recognize instinctively how to continue to be ahead of fashions, and appear their best all the time. So why does that have to be any different with regards to maternity fashion? Gone are the days of loose, smock-like cover-ups: maternity clothes are a trend in their own right these days. If you long to be a stylish mum-to-be, but aren’t sure where to start, consider looking to some celebrities to explore the current maternity gear trends?

A great way to stay elegant, trendy and refined is to follow the example of celebs like Angelina Jolie and Nicole Ritchie. These women know how to work their baby bump, and were regularly snapped dressed in graceful, flowing maxi dresses. Make yours a day trend with a pair of wedges and some sunnies, or opt for a classy number for an evening soir’e and pair with comfortable heels and stunning jewellery. Either way, a maxi dress is a great way to stay cool in the summer, and to display your bump in a chic manner.

Many expectant mothers make the mistake of thinking they can’t get away with wearing jeans during their pregnancy, but just look to celebrities like Jennifer Garner and Heidi Klum to see how wrong this is. Stretchy waistbands are a must, and allow you to keep one pair of jeans for much longer, as they will grow with your bump. Whether you go for a skinny option, or follow Jennifer Garner’s lead and choose a wide-leg style, there are many jeans options available for mothers to be, so you can keep your personal style during pregnancy.

To achieve a comfortable style that can be worn during the day, keep to the trend for leggings paired with tunics. Leggings brilliant in all weather conditions are very comfy for expectant mothers, and look extremely stylish when paired with a sweet tunic top like Claudia Schiffer’s. Tunics can be tight to flaunt your bump, or looser to provide a more delicate style. Or, for a really comfy day look, follow the lead of Amy Adams and work your leggings with a cozy jumper dress. This look centres on effortless, wearable fashion, and has been seen on many pregnant celebs.

Maternity clothing certainly comes in all shapes and varieties, as well as coming with a vast range of different price tags. Designers worldwide have embraced maternity fashion, and high street shops are hot on the heels of what’s being worn by the world’s most stylish women, and have much cheaper price tags. New Look, for instance, have a wide range of maternity clothes, as have Topshop and Next. There’s something for every budget, so it’s easy to be spot on when it comes to this year’s trends for maternity gear.

Three Great Menswear Trends

When summer appears once again, it’s a good moment to begin re-evaluating your clothing. It’s not always simple to know which the top trends are for the summer, and even when you do understand them they’re occasionally so outrageously ?catwalk? that it’s difficult to make them look trendy on the street. On the other hand, high fashion needn’t be your enemy ? there are many ways in which you can be inspired by the big designers and make the best trends work for you.

For the past few summers, the marine trend has come back into style in a big way. It seems as though each summer designers are trying to find new ways to work the theme ? from naval tailored jackets to classic blue and white stripes. If you want to go a bit nautical with your wardrobe but don’t feel inclined to be decked out head to toe in navy, stripes and brass buttons, why not get yourself some nautical inspired footwear? Boat shoes come in many shapes and forms, from canvas to thicker leather, and can be paired with pretty much any outfit for an instant shot of sea-worthy style.

A fashion staple that has rolled around again this year is the checked shirt. Though they’ve been around for a while in different forms, such as the recent revival of the ?lumberjack? shirt, this summer it’s all about how you wear your checked shirt. Team with a pair of baggy jeans for a casual day look, or smarten it up with more tailored jeans and a jacket for a sharper look that can also work in the evening. Or, to make sure your shirt really screams summer, try teaming it with a pair of board shorts, and wear it open over a vest or t-shirt. This piece can be worn many different ways, so you can style it depending on your mood.

Lastly, a summer look that can be found on designer runways and in high street shops is that of bold, colourful shorts. Chuck out the denim cut-offs and Bermudas of years gone by: this summer everyone’s being louder and bolder with their shorts. You could either play it a bit safer by opting for a pastel shade, ? la Tommy Hilfiger, or go daring and intense in yellows, greens and blues. This trend has definitely made its way across to the high street, so you needn’t spend too much in your quest to be stylish. Just bear in mind ? colourful shorts mean carefully coordinated outfits. You wouldn’t want to walk out looking like an OTT rainbow!

This summer, international designers are leading the way for fashion conscious men and high street shops are not far behind with the top looks from the catwalks; selling them with much cheaper price tags. New Look, for example, sell a wide variety of men’s clothes, as do Burton and Gap. With something out there for everyone, it’s easy to be in style this summer.

Must Have Men's Clothing Fashion

With designers looking to travel and the high seas this summer season, the nautical trend is everywhere. You cannot have missed this look on the high street, or on the catwalks, and if you want to incorporate this fresh summer look, then stripes are key. Go for navy, white, or red, all classic and versatile colour options.

Alongside the nautical and travel trends, this summer sees the return of the prep. Think American Ivy League college look and you get the idea. Your key pieces are, of course, the chino, as well as baseball jackets, casual summer knits in pastel shades, polo shirts and sports jackets and blazers. Mix and match for a smart casual summer feel.

You can use some of your preppy American college key pieces to tie in to that other big trend for the summer, the vintage travel theme. By vintage we mean fashion trends from the 20s and 30s when well bred rich kids travelled the Med and Riviera through the summer.

Footwear for the summer looks to the past for inspiration and reinvents some classic styles. As well a the return of the tennis show, the deck shoe is also back and works so well with the nautical and travel trends. Look out for woven leather finishes that give the deck shoe a fresh twist.

No shoes say summer holiday more than the espadrille and this year you will not be able to get away from them. All over the high street right now, with Toms being a key brand, you really have a limitless choice when it comes to colours and canvas print finishes.

Shorts take on a new cut this summer. As well as the classic short shorts for those who dare to bare, look out for the skinny short. These are relatively long and reach down to the knee, often with a turn up detail and are great for that all American look as they can be dressed up or dressed down.

If you want to incorporate the preppy look this summer then your shirts need to be of the polo variety, or they need to be pastel, dirty bleached and crisp. The other key shirt trend is for tartan and check, which is another rehashing of the 90s grunge look.

Cover up for summer with the perfect hat. With the vintage travel theme in mind, opt for one of the classics, the panama or the fedora. Keep the colour light and the fabric natural. Alternatively the peaked newsboy hat is back, and the 80s ska aesthetic means the return of the pork pie too.

What Clothes To Wear To A Festival

It's summer, so that means festivals. But it also means a good deal of rain, particularly during weekends and bank holidays.

For example, you know it must be Glastonbury weekend if it is sunny all week then decides to rain for the weekend. The same can be said for Reading and Leeds in August. This has even more bad luck because it coincides with a bank holiday, so you can bet all your savings on its being wet and grey.

Rain and tents equals bad news. Add in some thick mud, no real washing facilities and thousands of people and fashion is probably the last thing on your mind. However, it doesn't mean you should forget all sense of style.

So you need to wear clothes that will keep you warm, and as dry as possible, clothes that are comfortable and items that will beat the sunburn if the sun does make an appearance, but at the same time you don't want to look like your parents before they go walking along the South Downs in winter. So what can you wear?

The ultimate festival fashion must-have are wellies. Even the plain green ones your mum has for doing the garden have become cool thanks to the likes of Kate Moss and Sienna Miller. But seeing as mum won't let you pinch hers, buy a dazzlingly bright pair of even some with crocodile- or snake-skin effect and a wedged heel.

The sun may well shine for a few hours and when it does you are highly exposed and temperatures can rise quickly. A pair of rubber wellies is not where your feet want to be. Sandals are a girls' best friend and are splattered across the high street again this summer. Gladiators work best, with straps galore so your shoes won't get lost in that sticky mud.

To funk up an otherwise dowdy rain mac (which girls are unfortunately an essential) add a straw trilby and printed scarf. Not only will these keep you warm and a tad bit drier, if you get a dose of peeling sunburn these will protect your skin from further damage and the rest of the world from seeing your flaky skin.

Work the festival scene with flower power. From skirts to dresses, tops to hoodies, the paisley flower effect will add a welcome touch of femininity to your wellington boots and oversized parka combo.

Not only are shorts the most stylish thing to wear on your legs this summer, but they mean you can retain some level of decency when you decide to crowd surf your way to the main stage.

Eating for Eye Health

The eyes are most often exposed to the damaging effects of the surrounding environment, and unfortunately they are most frequently unprotected. Diffuse light, cigarette smoke, car exhaust gases or simply the dusted, dry air can affect our sensitive visual system. But apart from avoiding external damaging factors, we must also include in our diet food items that contain substances which are vital for the good health of our eyes.

Those so much talked about, vital substances called "antioxidants" can protect our organism from free radicals. These beneficial substances include vitamins A, E, and C, as well as micro-elements such as selenium and carotenoids. From a nutritional point of view, the American National Eye Institute conducted a research which has demonstrated that there are indeed certain nutrients that can ensure the protection of our eyes. The most significant foods that can prevent ocular degeneration are the ones which are rich in beta carotene, vitamin C, vitamin E, zeaxanthin and lutein, zinc and omega-3 fats.

Among these excellent foods we, of course can mention carrots. They are full of beta carotene, which is an antioxidant that reduces the risk of cataracts and macular degeneration process. Carrots can be part of salads, soups or they can be part of a side dish for lunch or dinner. They can be added to most anything: hummus, salsa, peanut butter, guacamole and low calorie dressings. Some other foods that are excellent for the good health of our eyes include broccoli, bell peppers and Brussels sprouts. They all provide a good quantity of vitamin C, which is yet another essential antioxidant for the protection of our eyes. These veggies can be steamed, roasted, added to omelets or soups. Also, they may be combined for a delicious "pasta primavera" (spring time pasta), with a little bit of oil and garlic.

Of course, not only fruit and veggies are good for the eyes. Apparently, the meat which is healthiest for the eyes is the ostrich meat. This kind of meat can actually be a substitute for turkey, chicken, pork or lamb meat. It has the quality of absorbing all kinds of seasonings and it contains zinc, iron and a lot of proteins. Zinc is actually one of the most essential ingredients for the maintenance of healthy eyes. Zinc is contained by the retina. This substance is responsible for the good functioning of enzymes which are actually meant to ensure the eyes' health. Turkey meat also contains a lot of zinc and the B-vitamin niacin which can protect the eyes against cataracts disease. Turkey meat can be used in sandwiches, salads, chili and tacos or burgers.

Another veggie which contains high levels of beta carotene is the sweet potato. As their name suggests, sweet potatoes do indeed have a sweet taste. These vegetables can be included in recipes for dinner side dishes. They can be baked with a small quantity of oil or they can be used for the famous French fries

Caffeine Intake and Overdose

Caffeine is a natural substance which can be found in certain plants. It can also be produced artificially and used as an additive in certain foods. This substance is a stimulant for our central nervous system and also has a diuretic role. Caffeine overdose is when somebody consumes more caffeine amounts than the recommended dosage. But apart from coffee, what are the other drinks or foods that contain caffeine? They include carbonated beverages, some tea assortments, chocolate (including hot chocolate), and so on.

The symptoms of caffeine-related problems may include: breathlessness; confusion; convulsive states; fever, hallucinations; irregular heartbeat; nausea and vomiting; sleep disorders. Although people associate caffeine with coffee intake only, this substance can be found in teas, cacao or fizzy drinks. Caffeine is recognized as the most frequently used psychoactive drug. Caffeine overuse can affect the entire organism, from the nervous system to skin. Caffeine can increase the level of stress hormones in the blood, it can inhibit the important enzymatic systems which are related to cleaning the human organism and they can weaken the nervous reception system. Caffeine is sometimes associated with a state of general weakness, lightheadedness, with anxiety or depression.

It's the way of preparing the tea or coffee that determines the level of caffeine in a certain drink. One cup of instant coffee contains about 65mg of caffeine, whereas filtered coffee contains about 110 mg/cup. Black tea and most of the caffeine-based fizzy drinks contain about 30-65 mg/portion. Hot chocolate contains about 5 mg/cup, whereas chocolate bars may contain about 10-40 mg/60 g.

Caffeine may increase the sugar level in one's blood. It may also increase the level of sanguine fats and the blood pressure. Caffeine can also stimulate the central nervous system, thus the organism may no longer feel the need to rest. It may cause irregular heartbeat or favor the waste of calcium and magnesium via urine, which may have a harmful impact on our bones' health in the long run. Caffeine can also cause trembling, irritability or anxiety. It may be the cause of sleep disorders or even depression, and it may amplify the PMS symptoms.

In animal studies, excessive caffeine doses can cause bone congenital malformations, the delay of the fetus' development, decreased weight at birth and an increased number of cubs which are born dead. In very small doses, i.e. about 2 cups per day, the side effect was the slowing down of the bone growth. In the guinea pigs which were given small amounts of caffeine, researchers noticed certain behavior changes that persisted also during their adult age. An increased delay in the fetal development could also be caused by the caffeine consumed by guinea pig males before mating

Types of Anesthesia

Anesthesia is a condition of having the sensation of an individual or patient blocked temporarily, to allow that individual to undergo surgery and other medical procedures without any pain, which otherwise they would experience. Not that every surgery or medical procedure would require the patient to undergo this condition, yet most of them do to avoid distress and pain, during and post the surgery. The anesthesia given to a person differs from condition to condition and intensity of the same differs according to the health of the person to whom it is given. A patient has to undergo various medical and physical tests before the medical practitioner actually decides which type of anesthesia is best suited for him and the quantity of anesthetic drug to be administered.

The reason an anesthesiologist is very careful before injecting the drug is because, anesthesia acts on the central nervous system of the patient. Hence, an incorrect dose would disturb the entire working of the central nervous system, which is considered to be the CPU (central processing unit) of the body. In most cases, where the patients are advised a general anesthesia, the anesthetic drug is usually injected in the spinal cord. The drug works via the spinal cord which runs down from the brain and branches out to the other parts of our body, sending signals of being numb. In simple words, now the brain cannot send signals to any part of the body and since the organ does not receive any signal it doesn't respond to the same. Thus, the patient's sensation is dead or his body is numbed. The anesthesiologist will decide the anesthesia best suited for you, after examining your physical fitness and the type of surgery. Here are the following types of anesthesia available.

Types of Anesthesia

Local Anesthesia: Local anesthesia, as the name suggests, is administered for a minor surgery on a specific or localized area of the body. A shot is injected around the area to be operated to reduce pain and distress during the surgery. Sometimes, anesthesia can also be given in the form of an ointment or spray. A local anesthesia will keep you awake throughout the surgery, but will numb the tissue around the surgery area. The effect of the local anesthesia is short-lived, and persists only or a few hours. This type of anesthesia is best suited for tests, procedures, minor surgeries and dental procedures where a lot of pain is not expected. Therefore, a local anesthesia will dull the pain.

Home Remedies for Gonorrhea

Gonorrhea is also known as 'clap' disease in some parts of the world. It is caused when a dangerous bacteria called Neisseria gonorrhoeae is passed on to a person during sexual intercourse. The bacteria can also be passed through contact with an infected person's penis, vagina, anus, mouth and eyes. The bacteria at times, may also be present in a person's urethra, fallopian tubes or uterus. Basically, this bacteria thrives in warm and moist areas of the human body. Initially, it is difficult to recognize the symptoms of gonorrhea, but once it is ascertained, you might be prescribed with antibiotics and vaccines to recover from this condition. However, I am suggesting some alternate tried and tested folk remedies. They are healthy, safe and worth a try.

Gonorrhea Remedies

Before I list out all the home remedies for gonorrhea, I have one piece of advice. Stop having any kind of sexual relations with your partner or partners. If you have been sexually active in the recent few weeks, then make sure to contact those people and ask them to get tested for gonorrhea as well. For female partners an additional prognosis for chlamydia disease is also essential. Find below a list of easy to prepare home remedies for gonorrhea.
  • Guyabano fruit or sour sop is one of the best known home remedies for gonorrhea. All you need to do is extract juice of this fruit and consume it orally. This fruit has high proportion of vitamin C, B1 and B2, all of which are essential for curtailing effects of this disease.
  • Tea tree oil is a home remedy commonly used by women. All you need to do is take a fresh piece of tampon. Mix 3 drops of tea tree oil with coconut oil and let the tampon absorb the oil. Now place the tampon in you vagina.
  • Apple cider vinegar is a well-known cure for gonorrhea. Mix a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in some coconut oil. Use a fresh tampon to absorb the mixture and place the tampon in your vagina. Apple cider vinegar can also be used externally. For this, you will require approximately 5 cups of water and 1 tablespoon of vinegar. Mix the solution well and use it while you are bathing.
  • Take 2 teaspoons of fresh yogurt and a fresh tampon. Dab the tampon into the yogurt and place it in your vagina.
  • Garlic is a strong natural anti-bacterial herb. As a cure, you might have to eat lots of raw garlic pods, or use it abundantly in your meal preparations. Alternately, make a fresh paste of garlic and apply it like a lotion to any of the affected areas of your body except your eyes.

Treat Chemical Imbalance

The human brain is made up of billions of neurons, or nerve cells, which are continuously firing electrical impulses down the axon. One end of the neuron shoots out a chemical, which traverses a synapse (gap) and transmits the chemical to another nerve cell. These chemicals are also referred to as neurotransmitters. It is believed that an imbalance in these neurotransmitters is the cause of a chemical imbalance in the brain, and gives rise to feelings of anxiety and mental depression. Some of these neurotransmitters are GABA (gamma-Aminobutyric acid), dopamine, serotonin, epinephrine, norepinephrine, just to name a few. There are ways to treat this chemical imbalance which includes the administration of prescription drugs, as well as the use of certain herbal supplements. Let us look at these in detail.

Treating Chemical Imbalance

Use of Prescription Drugs
Among the neurotransmitters mentioned above, a drop in the serotonin level suggests that a person might feel dejected and hopeless. Because serotonin is also in charge of other bodily functions like sleep, sense of appetite, and the amount of pain we feel, prescription medication like antidepressants claim to bring back the level of serotonin in the body, thereby regulating the chemical imbalance and helping a person feel better again.

Use of Natural Herbs
Most herbs help patients overcome depression by regulating the levels of serotonin. They act as SSRIs or Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors, increasing the levels of serotonin, which helps to combat depression and anxiety.

Lavender: Lavender's aroma significantly helps to uplift the mood of individuals who are feeling low, promoting a general feeling of relaxation.

Kava Kava: This herb has been used during ancient times to treat a variety of disorders such as asthma, anxiety, insomnia, and excess fatigue. The roots of the plant are powdered to make a bitter brew, which is famous for its healing properties. Drinking kava helps to lighten the mood and relaxes tensed muscles, helping individuals to overcome their feeling of sadness.

St. John's Wort: A plant that has proved very effective in treating depression, it fills a person with positive energy, and brings down the levels of irritability. Its medicinal properties also help improve concentration and attention

Stress and Its Manifestations

People have always had the intuition that anxiety, tiring working hours, the uncertainty of the future, conflicts with the dear ones can cause somatic and psychic diseases. We feel the permanent pressure of life’s difficulties, we feel many external constraints, and we often sense frustration and emotional tensions that may only result in the destruction of our mental and biological balance.

Certain people may try to resist attacks, to reconcile their own desires within the equation of social efficiency and they tend to get overcharged. This thing may not always be justified, and unfortunately it often happens for such people to wrongly identify the true stressing agents, both internal and external. Thus, tensions in the space of professional field which may not find their way of manifestation at the workplace are often abusively expressed in a more familiar environment, such as towards people who are considered to be the close ones: spouse, friends, children, or any other family members.

Psychologists have drawn the portrait of the stress-dominated person. They have also drawn the attention upon the fact that life under continuous pressure can be quite a risk, as it may lead to apathy/agitation; excessive sleep or insomnia; irritability, aggressiveness, appetite for conflicts or passivity, indifference; losing the capacity to concentrate, to retain information, losing personal efficiency; certain physiological deficiencies, that may or not be the signs of certain chronic diseases: palpitations, heavy breathing, suffocating sensations, losing contact with reality, or plunging into an imaginary world in order to run away from the troubles in one’s life.

Also, other signs may include the denial of responsibilities, which may seem too many or too suffocating. Such a stress-dominated person is the perfect candidate for the impossibility of establishing normal friendships, partnerships, and so on. Such people are also likely to perpetuate their family conflict states of mind, they may be prone to professional failure or they may fall prey to alcohol, drugs, tobacco, gambling and other addictions.

Psychologists remind us of the tenderness with which our mothers used to chase away our fears and anxieties. Love is the most direct means of easing a weary mind. Unfortunately, as we reach maturity, we tend to forget this important fact. Laughing, crying, and aggressiveness are all means of releasing tensions, and the obtained effect is regaining our mental balance.

Excessive sleep is one of the means adopted by people in order to face the difficulties and tragic events in their own lives. This is a kind of emotional withdrawal, an attempt to escape reality and enter into the world of dreams. Some other stress-relief methods may include praying or talking about your dominant emotional state. These verified recipes can help us liberate from the emotional tensions generated by family or professional conflicts. This verbalization may lead to phrasing new points of view or even to the disappearance of minor tensions.
